Research and Innovation
IT Sligo is a leader in driving economic and social development in the North West of Ireland. Our work is focused on supporting a vibrant and sustainable Research and Innovation community at IT Sligo based on:
- Strategic Research Groups.
- Integration of Research and Innovation with teaching.
- Support for Businesses and Community.
- International Collaborations with Research Centres and Businesses.
The institutional strategy document: A Strategy for Change – Building for the Future identifies the following priorities to:
- Conduct relevant and effective applied research.
- Ensure relevance to teaching and learning.
- Develop staff capability in research, and develop postgraduate employability.
- Foster interdisciplinary research and extend external collaboration.
- Develop the physical environment and institutional capacity for research.
- Increase and internationalise entrepreneurship support.
- Enhance supports for small and medium sized enterprises.
- Increase the impact of our knowledge transfer activities.
- Increase the uptake of our online and distance learning in businesses and the community.
- Increase the impact of the institute’s intellectual capital in driving regional development.
