Training
IT Sligo provides a range of formal & informal training workshops & courses for research students. The training needs of each individual should be established at the outset of each project and reviewed during the course of the project. if you have any queries about your training needs contact the Research Office.

The Research Office will run a series of workshops over the year on research skills. Here is advance notice of the dates for the first 5. They will be held on Thursdays 1.10 – 2, in room D1009.

In addition to IT Sligo workshops & modules, there is also a fully accredited national graduate education scheme. For further information please visit Research Alliance.
The weekly research seminar series, where postgraduates and staff make presentations on their research projects and areas, will begin again on Tuesday the 16th of November in D1024.
These seminars are an excellent way to hear about current developments in areas being researched in the Institute.

Resources and Support
There are a variety of supports available to you at IT Sligo ranging from academic to social. If you can’t find what you are looking for then drop in to the Research office as it is a one stop shop for guidance on all available supports.

Fees & Scholarships
The postgraduate research fees for the academic year 2009/10 are as follows:
Annual Tuition Fees for EU Citizens for 2009/10 are as follows:-
- Masters by Research & PhD €4,019 p.a. (includes €200 one off payment for HETAC postgraduate registration)
Some non-EU students may qualify, depending on their legal status.
Tuition Fees for International (Non-EU) Citizens are as follows:
- Masters by Research & PhD – €11,500 per annum. This includes the Institute’s registration/exam fee.
The annual increase of these fees will be in line with the Department of Education and Science increase in Tuition Fees for the previous year.
Third Level Scholarships :
In addition to project funding, students on Masters by Research / PhD may apply for either HEG or VEC scholarships.

In order to be a fully registered post graduate student, annual fees need to be paid in full.
Networking and Research Community Activities
Interaction between peers, renowned experts in a particular field and potential employers is an essential part of personal and professional development for any research student. The Research Office facilitates this interaction by organising lunchtime seminars and email notifications of upcoming conferences. At IT Sligo there is quite an active community between postgraduates of all disciplines so feel free to join in.
