Project Title: The application of Systems Simulation for Optimizing Energy Consumption by looking at Production Management.
Student Name: Cristina Maria Luminea
Supervisor: David Tormey
Funding Body: TSR Strand 1
The aim of this research project is to look at production management in a manufacturing facility and correlate it with the energy consumption. This will be done through simulation. The end result of this process will be a better understanding of the production system and the energy loses. This will be closely followed by the creation of different scenarios that ideally will lead to a lowering in the energy consumption.
So far, simulation has been used in manufacturing facilities for modelling supply chain management, production management and business processes. This research brings a novel approach to investigating the adaptability of industrial simulation processes and tools for modelling the energy consumption with respect to a variable production output.
