Abstract:

This research project will identify final major project designs from industrial/product design students in Ireland. This will be achieved through monitoring the development of their designs, from inception to final realisation. The full commercial potential of these designs will be examined using professional and industrial criteria.

Aims and objectives of the proposed programme of research

  • To investigate the commercialisation of final year students’ product design projects.
  • To identify the legal implications and requirements for the commercialisation of products.
  • To identify intellectual property rights with regard to the commercialisation of student work after college.
  • To develope an evaluation process for student products.
