Minimum Entry Requirements

N.B. The following are the minimum entry requirements for admission to programmes of study. It should be noted that possession of minimum requirements will not guarantee an offer of a place. Points requirements are determined by places available and demand and are often above the minimum.

Level 7/6 Programmes – Ordinary Degrees and Higher Certificates

Leaving Certificate: 5 subjects in the Leaving Certificate, including Mathematics, and English or Irish. Some courses do not require Mathematics – see individual course information.

FETAC: Any full level 5 programme with at least 8 subjects. Where Mathematics is a requirement, Leaving Certificate Mathematics or a FETAC Mathematics module will meet the entry requirement.

UK Applicants:

For entry to IT Sligo degree programmes minimum entry requirements and a points system apply.   Applicants must hold GCSE Maths and English at grade C or higher.  The points required for entry to a course are determined by the level of demand on course places.   As a guide, entry to Level 7 will require at least 200 points and entry to Level 8 will require at least 300 points.   Please note that AS subjects are only considered if the subject is not continued to A2.  Applied A Levels (AVCE) are treated in the same was as A Levels.

Mature Applicants: The minimum academic requirements do not apply in the case of mature applicants.   Selection is based on interview and offers are subject to number of places available.
