Sports Scholarships – Code of Conduct
Successful applicants must:
- Attend at least 75% of all classes and tutorials related to their course of study.
- Attend specific mentoring and class tutorial programmes that will be provided on a regular basis
as a result of Institute training and competition requirements. - Submit and follow a yearly training and competition plan on the log book form as agreed with the relevant Institute club/coach, and report to the Sports Scholarship Committee on performances as required during the year.
- Participate in all Institute competitions as required, other than in exceptional circumstances.
- Promote the Institute and/or the relevant club through the media and public appearances.
- Actively assist in recruiting students and quality sportspeople to IT Sligo.
- Subscribe to anti-doping policies in general, and abide by a drug-free philosophy and a responsible approach to alcohol consumption.
- Participate in the Irish Sports Council National Sports Anti-Doping Programme and undertake, if required, drug testing in competition or out of competition following international standards and protocols as agreed by relevant National Governing Bodies and International Federations.
- Successful applicants shall complete a ‘Health Screening Form’, and participate in fitness assessments as required throughout the year.
- Ensure that the good name of the Institute is not brought into disrepute through personal actions and comments.
- Report to the committee any incident or injury which affects the player/athletes ability to perform and fulfill his/her scholarship obligations and submit a medical certificate to the committee in the case of illness. The committee will in turn review the situation.
