The 4th year Performing Arts students are busy rehearsing for their performance of the Richard Harris play Stepping Out at their upcoming graduation show which will be staged in The Hawk’s Well Theatre, on Saturday 30th April and Sunday 1st May 2011.

National talent agents will attend the show in search of fresh new Irish acting stars.

The Show forms part of their final assessment within and it offers the students a chance to meet with perspective employers and stakeholders within the arts sector.

Stepping Out is a heart-warming comedy, concerning seven individuals from disparate backgrounds and with differing motivations who attend the same weekly tap dancing class in a dingy North London church hall. Despite the tappers at first treating the classes as social occasions, and showing little co-ordination, they later develop a level of skill and cohesiveness. The dance routines are the backdrop for the focus of the play and the social interaction of all of the people involved. Stepping Out was written by Richard Harris in 1984. It was produced in the West End, London, where it received the Evening Standard Comedy of the Year Award and on Broadway, New York.

The Performing Arts graduation students’ production of Richard Harris’ Stepping Out will run on Saturday the 30th of April and Sunday the 1st of May 2011. Doors open at 7pm, and curtain is 8pm. Tickets are now on sale for €10, from IT Sligo, The Hawks Well theatre, and The Glasshouse Hotel. Places are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.
