HUCBMS Conference 2023
Atlantic Technological University is hosting the 2023 HUCBMS Conference on 5-6 September.
The conference will take place on the Irish North West Coastal ATU Sligo Campus.

Archaeological site visits
* There will be a visit to Carrowmore Megalithic Complex & Visitors Centre on the morning of Tuesday 5th September. A bus will depart at 10am from the Glasshouse Hotel to Carrowmore. To ensure numbers for the bus, you will need to book a place in advance by contacting Oli Melia – oli.melia@nullatu.ie
** Subject to numbers interested, we can also arrange a two hour walk around Knocknarea, visiting Queen Maeve’s Cairn, for anybody who is staying in Sligo, Thursday 7th September. Contact oli.melia@nullatu.ie to register interest in this.
NB: There will be a small fee to cover transport for the above visits which is dependent upon numbers registered.
The mission of HUCBMS
The mission of HUCBMS is to promote the development and enhancement of biomedical sciences teaching and research, including:
- promoting national and international quality standards in biomedical sciences teaching and research;
- seeking to ensure that adequate resources are available to departments of biomedical sciences;
- providing benchmarks for model curricula;
- providing advice and guidance to biomedical sciences departments;
- promoting the exchange of views, dissemination of information and collaboration between member institutions.
- It represents the interests of its member institutions (universities and colleges) at a national and international level. Inter alia, it acts as a representative voice for the biomedical sciences and a source of advice, comment and analysis to relevant external bodies.
