Dr. Edwenia O'Malley is a chartered Physiptherapist and member of the Irish Society of Physiotherapists. She graduated as a physiotherapist in 2009 from University College Dublin. She continued her studies in the incidence of sports injures and the area of injury prevention in UCD and graduated in 2014 with her PhD. Her research interests followed her personal interest in the GAA- Gaelic Football and Hurling and she continues to work with teams as team physiotherapist. She is a member of the current GAA Medical Scientific and Welfare Committee.

Edwenia has a keen interest in evidence based practice and always incorporated innovative and effective techniques to her rehabilitation methods. While completing her PhD she worked clinically as a physiotherapist in private practice. She has worked with a range of patients- from weekend warriors to elite athletes, from children to the elderly and many more in between. In her past role, as research physiotherapist in the Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, she enjoyed managing her own clinical caseload and aided in the development of flagship research programmes in Athletic Groin Pain and ACL injury. 

As well as developing a huge amount of research skills throughout her PhD, she also developed an interest in teaching and learning. She worked as a Clinical Tutor and Occasional Lecturer during her time in UCD and now intends to build on her academic and research career in IT Sligo.
