Graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Spanish and French Language and Literature. Following three years travelling and working in Spain and South America, I completed an M.A. in Translation Studies at Dublin City University and worked for a period as a translator in Luxembourg. I then specialized in Sub-titling at the University of Wales and took up a 2 year post at the University of Vigo in Galicia. During this period, I completed a Masters in European Studies (University of Santiago) and also ventured into studying other languages - Portuguese, Finnish (University of Helsinki, Rauma) and Norwegian (University of Oslo). This was followed by a period of free-lance work in Murcia and in 1996 I commenced employment at IT Sligo. I completed my PhD in 2009 researching psycholinguistic approaches to Second Language Learning and am now approaching my 20th year as a Language Teacher here at the IT. |
