Biography

Anna Fewer-Hamilton is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). She began her studies in Psychology at University College Dublin where she completed an Honours Bachelors degree in Psychology. It was during this time that she developed an interest in psychotherapy and she went on to specialise in this area, completing an accredited Masters degree in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin in 1996. Over the subsequent years Anna has worked in third level education, where she lectured and trained counsellors, psychologists, nurses and other caring professionals. She was Course Organiser of the Masters in Counselling Psychology, the Masters in Counselling, and the Higher Diploma in Counselling at University College Cork and has worked in independent psychotherapy practice for many years. Anna joined the Department of Social Sciences at IT Sligo in 2007 where she contributes to degree programmes in Psychology, Social Care Practice and Early Childhood Care and Education. She is  Programme Chair of the Certificate in Introductory Counselling Skills. Anna is currently pursuing Doctoral studies in Psychotherapy at Dublin City University.

Research Interests

Anna's research interests include the therapeutic relationship, embedded and situated counselling, training and professional development in counselling and psychotherapy and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
