I am programme co-coordinator for the Biomedical Science programme which encompasses the level 7 Biomedical Science degree and the level 8 (Hons) Medical Biotechnology. I currently teach modules in Animal Cell Culture, Recombinant Cell Engineering, Medical Diagnostics, Implant Biocompatibility and Immunodiagnostics as well as supervising numerous year 4 projects. I have research interests in areas of teaching and learning, and a particular interest in the use of game based virtual environments in teaching. One of my PhD students has though his studies created a virtual laboratory environment though which aspects of laboratory skills can be assessed. A second research student is studying the role of histone regulation on biopharmaceutical protein production. I am also interested in the role of beta-catenin in the regulation of the adherence junction and associated pathways. |
