Senior executives from some of the world’s biggest technology brands and future industry leaders are visiting Sligo this weekend for the influential Surf Summit 2015.
Surf Summit takes place straight after the Web Summit with hundreds of tech investors, startups, entrepreneurs and industry enthusiasts travelling to Sligo to do business in a dynamic, fun and unique environment.
They will take part in outdoor activities which will include surfing, kayaking, kite surfing and more – while also discussing new business ventures and making deals.
“We are delighted that Sligo is going to host Surf Summit. In big business, deals are done over golf courses; but in the startup, technology industry and the Valley, it’s all done over adventure sports,” said Fintan Gillespie, Co-Host of the Surf Summit and Google Industry Lead.
“We wanted to give Web Summit attendees the chance to deepen the network they have been working on all week, experience the Wild Atlantic Way and enjoy what the west coast has to offer,” he added.
A major collaborative effort was involved in securing the event and included Sligo’s thriving adventure and surf community. It is being supported by a range of local stakeholders including IT Sligo.
“The delegates coming to Sligo represent the calibre of creative entrepreneur which Sligo is seeking to attract,” said Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of IT Sligo. “I can assure them that they are in for both a physically and intellectually rewarding experience.”
The Model in Sligo will be the main ‘hub’ for the Surf Summit over the course of the weekend.
In addition to the programme of activities for delegates, a range of Surf Summit fringe events have been organised in the Sligo and Strandhill areas.
Surf Summit takes place on Sligo from Friday, November 6th to Sunday, November 8th.
