A seminar for the Early Years sector, aimed at exploring ways and means of promoting resilience in young children will be held at IT Sligo on Saturday, September 10th.
The event is a collaboration with the Sligo County Childcare Committee.
Entitled ‘Bouncebackability‘ and supported by Sligo Skillnet, this is a professional practice seminar which will focus on the topic of building resilence in children through aspects of everyday practice. It will include expert guidance from keynote speaker Carmel Brennan, Head of Practice with Early Childhood Ireland.
Local Early Years educators will showcase their practice and approaches to building resilence, and there will be a series of practicial workshops.
“Resilience is the process of adapting well in the face of adversity and challenge, enabling us to bounce back from difficult experiences,” explains Dr Breda McTaggart, Head of Department of Social Sciences at IT Sligo, who will also chair the seminar’s closing plenary session on September 10th.
“Building resilience among our young children will impact on well-being, mental health and adaptability through life.”
The seminar runs at IT Sligo on Saturday, September 10th, from 9:30am to 4pm.The booking fee of €15 includes lunch.
