IT Sligo lecturer Paul Tansey has scooped a top research award at a prestigious construction management conference in Manchester.
Paul Tansey, who lectures in Construction Project Management, received the accolade at the 32nd Annual Association of Researchers in Construction Management (ARCOM) conference, regarded as the leading construction management conference in the world.
Paul’s paper, entitled “From Crisis to Opportunity: Turnaround Strategies of Large Irish Construction Contractors During the Period 2007 – 2015”, won the Best Project Management Research Paper award – The Paul Townsend Commemorative Award. Paul was also one of a select few who were invited to extend their paper for publication in the world’s top construction management journal – Construction Management and Economics. The research examined the turnaround strategies (strategic and operational) of Ireland’s top construction contractors following the 2007 economic recession.
“I am currently into the latter stages of my part-time PhD which I am conducting through Queens University Belfast,” explains Paul. ”This research forms part of my PhD study which is entitled: “Turnaround Strategizing Practices of Irish and UK Construction Contractors during an Environmental Jolt.”
The Association of Researchers in Construction Management brings together all those interested in construction management research. It aims to further the advancement of knowledge in all aspects of management in construction by supporting education, dissemination and research.
