‘Crouch, Pause, Engage!’ Cliodhna Bids For World Cup Glory

Ireland rugby international Cliodhna Moloney will have big IT Sligo support behind her this week when the curtain lifts on the 2017 Women’s Rugby World Cup in Dublin.

The 24-year-old IT Sligo graduate is a member of the Ireland squad which plays its opening pool match against Australia on Wednesday.

Cliodhna graduated from the Institute in 2014 with a degree in Sport With Business (formerly Recreation & Leisure), and currently works with KBC Bank Ireland.

IT Sligo graduate Cliodhna Moloney is a member of the Ireland women’s rugby world cup squad.

She took up rugby just three years ago during her college work placement, when invited to play by a friend who was involved with a club in Dublin.

Since then,  the Tuam native has gone on to perform with distinction for her club Railway Union, Leinster and now Ireland.

Ireland’s opening pool match is against Australia on Wednesday.

The tournament runs from August 9th to 26th. The pool stages take place in Dublin at the UCD Bowl and Billings Park in UCD before switching to Belfast from August 22nd where the playoff matches will be staged at Queen’s University and the Kingspan stadium.
