With the CAO February 1st application deadline approaching, three applicant information evenings will be held at IT Sligo this month for those interested in applying for a place at IT Sligo in September 2013.
Information evening for school leavers and their parents
- Wednesday, January 9th – 6pm to 8pm, Room A0004 at Main Reception
Information evening for mature applicants
- Wednesday, January 16th – 6pm to 8pm, Room A0004 at Main Reception
Information evening on Access Programme ‘Breaking the Mould’
- Wednesday, January 23rd – 6pm in the Hume Hall, Student Support Services Building
According to Student Affairs Manager, Gerry Hegarty, seeking guidance is an important step in the application process.
“Many School Leavers and their parents appreciate the chance to talk to the experts about what programmes are on offer, how they should apply, and, what the likely career opportunities will be,” he said. “We have a wide range of programmes designed to help prepare students for today’s workplace and we invite anyone who is interested in applying to attend third level education this year to come along to our information evenings.”
A mature student is classified as anyone who is aged over 23 on January 1, 2013. Mature students do not have to have a Leaving Certificate and their application will be considered on the basis of their previous work experience. Up to 20 per cent of the places on first year courses in IT Sligo are available for mature students.
IT Sligo’s Access Programme Breaking the Mould is targeted at any student who may otherwise not be able to receive a higher level education for a variety of socio-economic reasons. It’s open to participants from Connacht and Counties Donegal, Cavan and Monaghan. Participants must be aged 22 or under, and have attended a post primary school or education centre in the catchment area.
School leavers, mature applicants and parents can access information about IT Sligo programmes here or by contacting the Admissions Office at 071 91 55222.
