Graduates have the skills to work in high-tech manufacturing industries to design, build and operate intelligent machines such as robots and flexible manufacturing systems. Robotic and Automation engineers are problem solvers by nature, looking for solutions to sometimes difficult engineering applications.
ELECTRONICS AND SELF DRIVING TECHNOLOGIES
This honours degree brings together interdisciplinary concepts such as electronics design, artificial intelligence, robotics and augmented reality to provide future engineers with the skills required to design the next generation of electronics and self-driving sensor technologies. Students also go on a 6 month work placement and can apply to complete their placement in Kempten University in Germany, who have close links with manufacturers such as BMW.

Modules are designed and delivered to ensure students are prepared for industrial innovation, whilst also enhancing their leadership and management skills. Students undertake an Industrial Placement in third year with options to complete this in Esslingen University in Germany.
GENERAL ENGINEERING
This honours degree offers students an introduction into a wide range of engineering disciplines. Our suite of Civil, Mechanical, Electronics and Self Driving Cars and Robotics and Automation all have common first year modules, giving the students a taste of each engineering discipline before having to commit to which area of engineering they wish to specialise in from Year Two. As with all of our Engineering degrees, there is a big focus on practical learning.
CIVIL ENGINEERING
Although an established degree at IT Sligo, it is worth noting that this is part of the new suite of Level 8 Engineering common entry route. Civil Engineering is a dynamic industry, which is continuously evolving and changing. This Engineers Ireland accredited programme is a unique blend of formal lectures and practical work, enhancing students understanding of the topics by giving them a chance to apply what they learn in a workplace environment.
MECHATRONIC SYSTEMS (WORK BASED LEARNING)
A new work-based degree in Mechatronic Systems Engineering allows students located anywhere in Ireland spend the full 3 years of their degree in the workplace, in a paid traineeship, gaining credit for their workplace learning while studying their academic modules online. Students will learn how to analyse, design, and control the type of machines and processes that are used, for example, in biomedical, automotive manufacture and high-speed automation.
