Ample opportunities to get involved and gain the attention of employers.

A key discriminator in the decision of companies to hire graduates is their involvement in extramural activities - that is, stuff you do outside of class that interests them and shows your engagement with their industry. There are many such opportunities (e.g. the AIB DataHack recently was won by DIT students) and the emphasis is not necessarily on winning but getting involved.
