Course Summary


About this programme:

This on-line programme is aimed at those already working in a quality-related function, or aspiring to do so. The programme covers the scientific and management principles necessary for the achievement of customer satisfaction in a way that makes an enterprise competitive. The tools and techniques necessary to implement LEAN and SIX SIGMA programmes are included as well as modules on the statistical, management and communications aspects of quality. These principles, tools and techniques also have wide application outside the quality function. Students completing the L7 BSc in Quality meet the requirements of the internationally recognised Six Sigma Green Belt award. Students receive this award in addition to their degree by sitting an external Green Belt exam.

 

Key Course Information

Quality is a broad based discipline focused on improving products and processes in order to meet and exceed customer expectations in a competitive environment.

Study hours: Whether you are studying part-time online, blended or full-time online, it is very important that you allocate enough study time to your online course to stay focused, reduce stress and achieve your goals. For part-time online or blended learning, it is recommended that you should try to allow for 5-6 hours per week per 5 credit module to your studies.

Live Lectures: Live lectures normally take place between 6pm and 10pm, Monday to Thursday but this may vary depending on the availability of specific lecturers. For the Bsc in Quality (Online) students are expected to attend live lectures 2 evenings per week. If the Live Classroom scheduled times for the live online lectures do not suit you, recordings will be made available through Moodle.

Entry Requirements

120 credits at Level 6 (Higher Certificate - formerly National Certificate) qualification in relevant discipline or equivalent.

Graduates who have not obtained this minimum may incorporate other equivalent qualifications and relevant work experience and apply for assessment via the Institute’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. RPL is a process that may allow you to gain admission to a programme or to receive exemptions/ credit for some parts of the programme based on demonstrated learning that you may have achieved through another programme of study or through your work or career. Career Opportunities

The B.Sc. in Quality provides a path to professional development. The most obvious first position for new graduates is Quality Technician or Engineer. Many graduates go on to become quality managers, or pursue specialist careers within the Quality Profession, for example vendor engineer, validation specialist or quality systems manager. They may also branch out into related areas in their organisation such as production management, supply chain management or marketing.

Further Study

Graduates from this programme are eligible to apply for Level 8 Honours degree programmes, such as the online BSc (Hons) in Quality Management and Technology at ATU Sligo.

If you apply and are approved for an online course at ATU Sligo, you will be required to pay a non-refundable deposit of €250 to secure your place. Your deposit will then be credited against the course fees once you are registered as a student. Students at ATU Sligo are also eligible to claim tax relief at the standard rate for tuition fees.
