Almost 600 primary and secondary students from Sligo attended Maths Week shows by UK celebrity Maths expert, Dr Steve Humble, at IT Sligo yesterday.
Students filled the Institute’s Hume Hall venue to take part in the fun and interactive show by the presenter, who is otherwise known as Dr Maths. The hour long journey explored the subject in an offbeat and interesting approach.
This is the third year that IT Sligo has put on a provocative programme of Maths Week events, where students, staff and members of the public are invited to ponder the relevance of the subject.
The Institute also organised an interactive maths workshop by US-based mathematician Colm Mulcahy at the Mercy College.
Dr Steve Humble, otherwise known as 'Dr Maths', was the guest presenter at a Maths Week event at IT Sligo, with students Elijah Abosede, Mark Deehan, Kelly Ann McLoughlin, Kayleigh Smylie, and Dominic Lynch from St Edwards National School in Sligo; and Grace Corcoran, lecturer and co-ordinator of Maths Week at IT Sligo.
