€1,000 prize for grabs in Inventor Competition

9th Mar 2011

Entries are now being invited for an Inventor Workshop which will form part of the IT Sligo Enterprise and Innovation Week, from March 1st to 4th.

A €1,000 cash prize and professional support to bring the concept to the market is up for grabs for the most promising invention.

Head of Innovation at IT Sligo, Niall McEvoy, said the Workshop represents a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs to have their ideas professionally appraised; “At IT Sligo, we work to promote innovation across the region. As part of our upcoming Enterprise and Innovation Week, we are calling on all inventors to showcase their ideas to a professional evaluation team and compete for a prize of €1,000, as well as a range of supports to bring their idea to market.”

“The evaluation team will be made up of CEOs from local engineering companies and a senior member of academic staff from the IT Sligo School of Engineering. All participants will benefit from their feedback, making this a win-win situation for anyone who is working to bring an invention to the commercial market.”

Inventions should be beyond the concept stage, with drawings or a working model to support the submission.

Interested inventors can log on to www.itsligo.ie for more information and applications for the competition can be sent to innovation@nullitsligo.ie.

The final will be held in IT Sligo during Enterprise and Innovation Week, on March 3rd.
