March 7th to 11th is Energy and Environment Awareness Week at IT Sligo. The week is being organized by IT Sligo staff and students from the Environmental Society, to raise awareness of environmental issues on campus.
A number of information talks will be held on issues such as energy conservation, alternative energy sources, the Grow It Yourself community initiative and steps towards becoming a Green Campus.
Interactive information display stands will be erected on campus and there will be a number of OWL USB electricity monitors up for grabs in competitions.

More than three tonnes of recyclables are being collected on a monthly basis at the IT Sligo Recycling Centre, resulting in a saving of more than €1,100 a month for the Institute.
