Welcome to the Department of Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering
What is precision engineering?
Precision engineering deals with the design and manufacturing of complicated tools, products fixtures and instruments whose parts most be completely accurate in size and shape e.g surgical tools, contact lenses etc.
We are all about creating, inventing and finding solutions, focusing on the future of product building and design and breaking away from more traditional ideas of the engineering sector.
Our programmes focus on practical and project work, enhancing your problem-solving and leadership skills along the way. Mechanical Engineering and Precision Engineering and Design are offered at levels 6 and 7, with the opportunity to further your studies or begin working in the industry right away.
What type of student are you?
If you’re a lover of maths and science, with a keen eye for detail this could very well be the right place for you. You want to use your love of invention and creativity to problem solve and you’re excited by advancing technology especially how it’s being used in the making of products
