The first cohort of students to complete the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Certificate in Personnel Practice at IT Sligo, were recently presented with their Certificates. This is the first time the course was available in Sligo and participants from a wide range of industries in the West and North West gained an internationally recognised qualification.
Head of Business and Humanities Faculty at IT Sligo, Terry Young, congratulated the successful graduates, commenting on their commitment to return to education on a part-time basis to improve their work skills. Chairman of the local branch of CIPD, Niall McEvoy, Head of IT Sligo Innovation Centre told graduates: ‘ Human resources is a critical function in any organisation, with this qualification your net worth as employees has now increased.’

The CIPD Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP) is designed to introduce learners to a wide range of practical skills required by today’s line managers, team leaders, HR representatives, HR assistants and administrative staff. All those graduating are eligible for Associate membership of the CIPD. The programme is delivered as part of the online and distance learning evening programme at IT Sligo.
