The IT Sligo senior hurling team has qualified for the 2017 Higher Education finals weekend later this month thanks to an impressive 2-19 to 0-8 win over IT Tallaght in Sligo.
The 2017 finals weekend will be hosted by NUI Galway on the weekend of February 24th & 25th.
The team, managed by Sligo county hurling manager Declan Loughane, had previously beaten Cork ETB and drawn with IT Tralee.
IT Sligo were Fergal Maher Cup winners in 2016, and their qualification for this year’s Ryan Cup finals weekend is a further illustration of the team’s development and progress at third level.
The Institute’s opponents in the Ryan Cup semi-final will be either Queen’s or Garda College.
IT Sligo Sports Scholarship student Damien Golden is a member of the Institute’s hurling team which has reached the 2017 Higher Education Finals Weekend later this month.
