The importance of international networking was emphasised at the RE:CONNECT Western Regional Business Network event at the launch of IT Sligo’s Enterprise & Innovation Week.
The network, which is the brainchild of The Western Development Commission (WDC) and six local authorities in the Western Region, marked the launch of the week last Tuesday. Those in attendance were informed about how the network will help foster contacts between businesses in the west of Ireland and individuals and businesses abroad.
Commenting on the launch, Head of Development and Business Operations at IT Sligo, Gordon Ryan, said that the initiative was a fitting starting point for the week of events at the Institute; “Enterprise & Innovation Week is all about getting people together, whether that is people who are already in business or those who aspire towards going into business. The 20 plus free workshops provided during the week are aimed at providing the tools that people require to get going or to further their development- and quality networking opportunities is an essential part of any business.”
Andy Rogers from the Sligo Business Network London, and Joanne Grehan and Ian Brannigan of the Western Development Commission, addressed the event.
Ian Brannigan, Acting Chief Executive of the WDC, said that regardless of their location, RE:CONNECT would offer businesses in the west the opportunity to position themselves for growth by taking advantage of commercial opportunities through new relationships and social networks.
A new section of the LookWest.ie website will act as the virtual hub of RE:CONNECT. Visit the RE:CONNECT website here.
The next RE:CONNECT Western Regional Business Network event will take place in London towards the end of June.
