Postgraduate IRCSET Funding Success

Four IT Sligo students have been successful in attracting significant funding from the Irish Research Council for Science Engineering and Technology to advance their research activities.

 

Glenn Gordon, Sean Mulligan, James Murray and Julia Powers each secured €74,000 in funding under the IRCSET Postgraduate Award Scheme.
 

Supervised by lecturers Dr Brian McCann, Dr James Murphy, Dr Richard Sherlock and John Casserly, in the Schools of Science and Engineering, the research projects range in subject matter from hydro energy and cancer research to  improving efficiencies in wastewater treatment plants.  

 

IT Sligo’s performance in this year’s IRCSET Postgraduate Award Scheme was the highest in the Institute of Technology sector, alongside IT Tallaght.

 

The Irish Research Council’s initiatives are funded by the National Development Plan of Ireland under the auspices of the Department of Education & Skills.
