IT Sligo student, Deirdre Doherty is busy training on the shortlisted Under 19 Irish Ladies Soccer Panel. A first year student in Health Science and Physiology from Charlestown Co Mayo, Doherty is also on the IT Sligo ladies soccer team. Her time is busy between training with the Irish panel, playing for IT Sligo and studying fulltime. Doherty comments: ‘This semester my studies and sports work are really complementing each other. On the Health Science and Physiology programme, we are currently doing a lot of theoretical and practical work on stretching body parts, something that is relevant to a sports person at any level. Team coach Fran O’Regan is a great support, keeping all the women well motivated as we train for the final stages of the Premier League and the Intervarsities.’
