The 7th North/South Irish Criminology Conference will be hosted at IT Sligo this June. This is the first time the Conference has been hosted in the North West and up to 150 delegates are expected to attend the three day event between June 21st and 23rd.
The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for academics, postgraduate researchers, community activists, practitioners and policy makers in the fields of criminal justice and criminology to come together to exchange ideas and discuss policy.
Speakers at the Conference will include Professor Charl Cilliers, University of South Africa; Fr. Séan Healy, National Economic and Social Council, CORI and Social Justice Ireland and author of Social Policy in Ireland; Dr Rosemary Gido, Indiana University of Pennsylvania and editor of the US Prison Journal; Dr Ciaran McCullagh, UCC and author of Crime in Ireland; Dr. Elaine Crawley, Salford University UK and author of Doing Prison Work, Dr. Azrini Wahidin, Queens University Belfast and author of Older Women in the Criminal Justice System; Dr. Christina Quinlan, Dublin City University and author of Ireland’s Women’s Prisons, Past & Present; Dr. Jamie Saris, NUI Maynooth and author of Asylums in Ireland.
The deadline for submission of papers to the Conference is April 15th. Those interested in presenting a paper at the Conference must first submit an abstract of no more than 250 words, including the title, author, affiliation and contact details, to the conference organisers IT Sligo lecturers Liam Leonard (leonard.liam@nullitsligo.ie) or Paula Kenny (Kenny.paula@nullitsligo.ie).
