A group of Leaving Certificate Students from the Ursuline College visited IT Sligo last week and performed a series of six experiments from the leaving certificate Physics syllabus.  The group was accompanied by their teacher Mr. Anthony Carolan.

Dr Richard Sherlock, lecturer in Applied Science at IT Sligo commented  ‘In previous years students have had to travel to DCU or NUI Maynooth to do the experiments.  The visit was made particularly attractive by the decision of the School of Science late last year to invest a significant sum in the upgrading of the Physics facilities.  Students utilised state of the art equipment available in the School of Science including hand-held data-loggers. Academic staff from the Institute were on-hand to share their knowledge and expertise with the students. This “pilot” event was a great success and may lead to further similar events that will be offered to other schools in our catchment area.’

IT Sligo has the largest Science Faculty in the Institutes of Technology Sector.  International teaching standards and world class   facilities, allow for  a quality learning experience equipping students with the knowledge, skills and competencies for prosperity in an ever changing society.
