The annual Costume Design Spectacular took place at IT Sligo recently.  First year Performing Arts Students let their imagination and creativity run riot, as they treated audiences to a spectacular visual showcase.

This year the costume designs were inspired by the mythical creatures of Classical Literature such as Medusa, Pegasus and Sirens.  Costumes were described by audiences as ‘extremely exotic and imaginatively constructed ‘.  Each student designed, built and directed their mythical character for another student, getting the chance to see their own work ‘in performance’ as well as animating someone else’s work.

The show case was part of the end of year work from the First Year Performing Arts students who undertaking a four degree year programme leading to a range of possible careers in the performing arts and creative industries in Ireland and abroad.  For more information see www.itsligo.ie
