IT Sligo actors bring Vernon God Little, the hit stage adaption of the Booker Prize-winning novel by DBC Pierre, to the Factory Theatre Space, Sligo, this week.
It is the ‘Graduation Show’ by 4th Year Performing Arts Acting students and it runs for three nights from Wednesday (May 29).
For the third year in a row, renowned director Padraic McIntyre is at the helm.
Padraic is Artistic Director of Livin’ Dred Theatre Company based in the Ramon Theatre, Virginia. A number of his productions there have been nominated in The Irish Times Theatre Awards.
He says: “It is always an honour for me to work on the graduation show with the Performing Arts Acting students in IT Sligo. I am always struck with their energy and enthusiasm using the skills they have developed over their four years here to create and bring characters to life.
“Vernon God Little is an extremely challenging piece and the graduating acting students have attacked that challenge with great gusto.”
The cast of the ten graduating Acting students — Emma Brady, Emma Duggan, Rachel Gunning, Fergal Harman, Jennifer Healy, Catherine Jackson, Lisa Lynch, Karen McKeon, Emily Mell and Eanna O’Dowd — play more than 60 characters in the show.
The set and the costume for Vernon God Little is designed by 4th Year Performing Arts Theatre Design student, Diarmuid O’Flaherty, winner of the Yeats Design Residency at the Abbey Theatre, Dublin.
Eanna O’Dowd, from Galway, says: “I have made some great friends on the course and have had great experiences.
“Since starting the course my skills as an actor and theatre practitioner have improved greatly, and also my knowledge of theatre. All of this will help me in pursuing my career.”
Make a point of seeing these talented students. Give yourselves the chance to spot Ireland’s stars of the future.
