Sustainable Island Tourism Destination Management: Utilising the European tourism indicator system 

Colm Barcoe is currently a Doctoral candidate at IT Sligo. Colm began his career as a chef and went back to college as a mature student. The research findings of his Master’s thesis were accepted with no modifications and the thesis was awarded first-class honours for that and for the four taught modules that formed part of the requirements. It has since been published in several formats and is currently being prepared for publication as a book by the International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality. Colm has also co-authored a wide range of articles in the areas of business, tourism and food product development.

Colm is currently researching an ICT-enabled approach to the implementation of sustainable tourism indicator systems.
