Qualified as a member of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in February 1993. Awarded fellowship of Charterd Association of Certified Accountants in 1998. Awarded MSc. in Accounting in 2008.
After training as an accountant with Gilroy Gannon, Sligo,  I subsequently worked for three US multi-national companies (Fort Dodge Laboratories, GE Capital and Abbott Ireland) spanning a period of ten years. My work with these companies was varied and challenging. My particular interests and roles were in the areas of financial systems project management and management reporting systems. My final role was that of Acting Financial Controller of Abbott Ireland Ballytivnan plant then employing 600 people. In September 2004 I moved into academia (IT Sligo) as a lecturer in Accounting & Finance with particular interest in management accounting.
