Sarah
obtained her PhD in Organic Chemistry from the National University of Ireland,
Galway on the preparation of potential anti-cancer compounds (2008). Following
a year working as a Quality Analyst in Wyeth Medica Ireland (now Pfizer), Newbridge,
Co. Kildare, Sarah undertook a postdoctoral research position at Rutgers
University, New Jersey, USA in Professor Kathryn Uhrich¿s biocompatible
polymers programme. Her work at Rutgers involved the design and synthesis of
polymers to treat and manage cardiovascular disease and for gene delivery. In
2011 she joined Professor Neil Cameron¿s group at Durham University, UK, to
work on polypeptide-based nanoparticle drug delivery systems for the treatment
of ocular diseases. She is currently
working as an Assistant Lecturer. Sarah has authored a number of peer-reviewed
publications and is an inventor on a US patent. Her research interests include
