Applications are now open for IT Sligo’s Sports Scholarship Scheme.

The scheme aims to assist talented student athletes reach their sporting potential. If you are a keen sports person competing at an elite level, we want to hear from you.

.Photo: James Connolly / PicSell8.07FEB13Under the scheme up to 20 scholarships and bursaries are awarded each year. The Gold Scholarship Award for 2012/2013 was €1,750. In the current economic climate that’s something to take seriously, isn’t it?

The closing date for receipt of applications is Friday, September 27th 2013.

About the Scheme

The Sports Scholarship Programme is designed to nurture talented sports people who are prepared to make the commitment to the IT Sligo sports clubs in their chosen discipline.

If successful, you will also have to balance this with your studies.

This means that you will be expected to represent IT Sligo at third level competitions while satisfying academic requirements.

The overall aim of the scheme is to recruit, manage and develop players/athletes with exceptional ability so as to position IT Sligo as a premier centre of sporting performance.

Sports Scholarships are awarded for a period of one year, but may be renewed for up to a maximum of 4 years. Sport Travel Bursaries are also available to students competing at national and international levels.You will also receive mentoring support, training guidance and other value-added support as a scholarship recipient.
