IT Sligo will have a strong representation at the 2011 Sociological Association of Ireland Postgraduate Conference, which takes place in NUI, Galway this weekend.
The range of issues being addressed by IT Sligo students at the Conference demonstrates the variety of research work being under taken in the area of social science.
Tasmin Cavaliero will speak on the subject of Traveller’ Experiences of Education in County Sligo; Karen O’Callaghan will speak about The Management and Treatment of Convicted Sex Offenders in the Republic of Ireland; Susan McDonnell will speak about Art in Qualitative Research: ‘Children’s Methods’ or Communicative Competency; and Mark Timoney will discuss a paper on the subject of Harm against Social Care Practitioners in Ireland.
The Sociological Association of Ireland was founded in 1973 and there are more than 100 members in the association from a variety of backgrounds, including postgraduate students, lecturers, civil servants and social researchers.
IT Sligo postgraduate students will be participating in the 2011 Sociological Association of Ireland Postgraduate Conference this Saturday, February 5th.
