National Maths Week will be marked at IT Sligo on Monday, October 15th with a show by Dr. Steve Humble, otherwise known as Dr Maths.
How maths can be used to predict the future and to order the chaos around us are just two of the questions that will be explored in this fun and interactive show.
Having worked as a maths subject leader for over 20 years, Dr Humble has spent the last five years as a Senior Regional Coordinator for the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM). Now working as a Freelance Mathematics Consultant, he supports schools in raising their student achievement through creating a positive attitude to maths.
Carol Vorderman’s recent report on mathematics education for the UK Government described him as “an inspiring individual, providing opportunities for children to do mathematics that they find exciting and interesting”.
The show is open to the public and will be held at 11am and 2pm on Monday, October 15th in IT Sligo’s Hume Hall. For queries regarding attendance, please contact corcoran.grace@nullitsligo.ie.
