A company based at the IT Sligo Innovation Centre, VentiSys Technology, has been named as an Emerging New Business Winner at the Small Firms Association’s National Business Awards.

Headed up by CEO Joe Morrissey and CTO Jon Guymer, Ventisys Technology is a software consultancy business delivering the www.oudlesvault.com service which enables users to easily encrypt and secure data on laptops or PC’s. Should theft occur it intelligently wipes the data onboard, provides compliance reports for subsequent regulatory review and enables rapid restoration of data to a replacement device.

CEO and graduate of IT Sligo, Joe Morrissey is delighted with the Award; “Winning the Small Firms Association, National award for “Best emerging Company 2011” is validation for our business from a distinguished panel of business experts. It acts as a fantastic endorsement of our thinking and our efforts as we launch the www.OudlesVault.com software as a service.”

Explaining the Oudles Vault software, Mr Morrissey said; “Given the increasing powers to penalise companies and organisations that fail to protect their custodial data, it has never been as important to be able to demonstrate compliance within the data protection acts, namely in the case of a laptop loss or theft – that every effort was made to safeguard the on board data. The difficulty of course is that when a laptop or PC is stolen or lost, it has until now not been possible to definitively show that the data is safe, or indeed what was on board. OudlesVault allows companies protect data whilst they have the laptop, wipe it after it is lost or stolen regardless of web connectivity, provide definitive evidence for regulatory review, and most importantly recover the data to a replacement device, so no downtime or loss of data is incurred.”

Head of Innovation at IT Sligo, Niall McEvoy, congratulated VentiSys on its award; “VentiSys is a great example of thriving regional entrepreneurship based at IT Sligo’s Innovation Centre. In 2010 two of our 22 start-up companies won national entrepreneurship awards. We are delighted that Joe and his team are continuing that award winning tradition into 2011.”
