IT Sligo PR & Event Management Students at the launch of the 'Human Hamster' event

IT Sligo PR and Event management students are hosting the “Human Hamster” event at IT Sligo’s GAA pitch on Tuesday, 29th of March from 12.00pm to 3.00pm. The bizarre event is a new and exciting activity “zorbing” originating from New Zealand, it is the idea of inflatable transparent spheres where the rider is strapped in place and rolls downhill. The event is a novel experience to the North West and not only is it a fun packed day for the students and lecturers at the college for the price of €5 per zorb but all the funds raised on the day will be donated to the worthy cause of Special Olympics Connaught. The adventure activities company Extreme Ireland are wished a big thank you for generously sponsoring the event.

The students have been collaborating with the organisation throughout the year and hope to generate awareness and much needed funds on the day. The IT Sligo students are working hard to make it a successful day and are delighted to be gaining life experience in the public relations and event management industry which will benefit their academic studies.

The Special Olympics Connaught organisation provides year round sports training and competition for 1700 people with an intellectual disability in Galway, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Westmeath, it not only provides physical benefits of sports for the athletes but it changes lives by not only enabling athletes to achieve and win in sport but in life too.
